WELCOME TO APPLICATIONS OF STRUCTURAL FIRE ENGINEERING

International conference »Applications of structural fire engineering«, ASFE’ 21, will be 7th consecutive successful international conference on fire safety and will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Previous ASFE conferences were held in Prague (2009, 2011 and 2013), Dubrovnik (2015), Manchester (2017) and Singapore (2019). The conference aims to bring together experts and specialists in design against fire from all over the world to share ideas and to acquire knowledge in the field of structural fire engineering. ​Themes, addressed at the ASFE’21 conference, will (among others) include fire safe design of concrete, steel, timber and composite structures, concrete spalling, fire protection of structural elements, numerical modelling of fire development, heat transfer and mechanical response of structural materials, development of new materials, standardisation of procedures and materials as well as case studies. In accordance with the conference’s title, the emphasis of the conference will be on application of novel knowledge in structural fire engineering practice. Conference ASFE’21 is being organized by the Faculty of civil and geodetic engineering, University of Ljubljana (UL FGG) and will be held between 10th and 11th of June 2021.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The conference will be held online on June 10-11, 2021 via the platform Zoom. Zoom links to the conference sessions will be accessible on the webpage https://www.asfe21conference.com/login. Login details will be emailed to each participants on Monday June 7, 2021 at the latest. Once you log in to the conference webpage the conference programme will appear including Zoom links to the conference sessions. Please note that all timings in the conference programme are in local time (Ljubljana, UTC+2).

Conference proceedings will be available on the conference webpage after login https://www.asfe21conference.com/.

The conference sessions will be recorded. Recordings will be available on the conference webpage accessible to the logged in users until the end of September 2021.

Please note that it will only be possible to ask questions in written form in Zoom chat. The chairman will read the questions to the presenter. If there are too many questions for a scheduled time, the chairman will freely choose questions for the presenter. Therefore, the presenters are advised to include email contacts in their presentations to be available for further questions or discussions.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTERS

The presenters are asked to prepare a max 10-min presentation. Each presenter will be given the permission to share his/her own presentation just before it is scheduled according to the conference programme.

If you are unfamiliar with Zoom environment or feel uncertain about uploading the presentation on time, you can send your presentation to us by Wednesday June 9 at the latest and the session host will share your presentation when scheduled.

If you are not able to give your presentation at the scheduled time, you can send us a vocal and visual recording of your presentation and we will play it at the scheduled time according to the conference programme.

Please keep in mind that maximum 15 min is available for each presenter, including time for sharing the presentation on Zoom session, presenting time and time for questions. Too long presentations will be ended by the session host.

We are happy to announce that the deadline for abstract submission for the ASFE ’21 conference has been extended. The new abstract deadline is 1 March, 2021.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

We are pleased to announce that proceedings of ASFE have been covered in Scopus from 2017. ​Once the abstract is accepted, the authors are required to submit a full paper to be accepted for the final programme. All the accepted full papers will be published in the conference proceedings. In addition, selected full-length papers will be published in Scopus indexed Journal of Structural Fire Engineering (https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/journal/jsfe).
