The Slovenian Fire Protection Association (SZPV) was established in 1993, by a group of individuals, representatives from companies and institutions, commited to work in the field of fire protection.

The SZPV's mandate is:

-   to protect people, property and the environment by advancing fire prevention

-   to collaborate with its members, insurance industry, producers of products for fire protection in buildings, government, the fire service and others, who work in the field of fire protection in Slovenia and abroad with the aim to help focus attention on the issues of fire prevention

-   to identify trends and promote research work in the field of fire protection and speed up the implementation of new findings in practice

-   to participate in the formation of fire protection strategy in Slovenia, the preparation of new technical regulations and standards, the preparation of SZPV guidelines and recommendations.

In carrying out these functions, SZPV organizes conferences, seminars, workshops, training courses, and other forms of education and training, issue magazine Pozar (Fire) and other publications, cooperate with other fire protection associations, etc.
